Wetherby Karate joins forces with Otley JiuJitsu to kick out at child cruelty !
When the instructors at Kenshinkan Martial Arts asked
the students which charity they would like to support
there was no competition! The
students voted unanimously to support the NSPCC.
The students of the Otley JuiJitsu club joined forces with the Karate students in the
Kenshinkan Wetherby club to see how many round-house kicks they could
do in a minute.

A minute is a very long time when you are kicking
non-stop but the fine martial artists didn’t falter
and all went on to complete
over 90 kicks each!

Top kickers on the day where Wetherby Karate student
blue belt Gordon Barron who did 119 hard kicks in
one minute (that’s 2 per
second!) and Otelys’ junior yellow belt student Callum
Barrington who managed a
staggering 116 kicks.
The Otley and Wetherby students did fantastically well, 2nd
DAN instructor Clare Hooker said “we have raised far
more than we had hoped and the
stamina and determination of all the students was a tribute to what martial
training can
do for young people”.
In total our generous sponsors donated £551.35 to
help the NSPCC fight
their battle with child cruelty. Thanks must go the
